Vacation Needed ASAP

Sorry for not posting for a while. I've been tired as hell 'cause the work has been a bit overwhelming. There's a lot of things happening at the moment; the renovation, two big happenings in following weeks that needs a lot of planning and preparing AND employee's long sick leave all at the same time. Someone could say it was a burnout for me, but I say let's forget the past and instead of that let's look to the future. I'm happy to have many wonderful people around me helping to get these problems solved. :) Anyway, the past week reminded me that people need to have a vacation every now and then. So what did I do? Booked a flight for May, yayy! Until then I'll think back the journey to Australia. These are the photos from days 3-5 from my trip.

The third day was all about surfing so we went to Surfer's Paradise. I had never surf before. Unfortunately I have no pics from the beach while we surfed but I DID SURF! I catched the waves and I stood on the surfboard, really! So much fun! :)) The day 4 we took a flight from Brisbane to Airlie Beach and did some hard core tanning for some hours. After that we took a long walk to the nearest mall and went back to our hostel. There we had pasta and avocado salad when all the other back packers had noodles, ha! (What do you mean, I'm not a competitive person, haha.) Day 5 we packed our bags and headed to the harbor and took a boat to the Great Barrier Reef and snorkeled there for a while. The staff in the boat was the best. I was cranky as hell when we boarded to the ship since I hadn't had my morning coffee, but the lovely snorkeling boys brought the black gold to us right away. Love them!

We had a long day in this lovely boat, but when we were getting closer to the Long Island where we were staying the following nights the storm clouds gathered nearby. Luckily we managed to bypass it without getting too wet, but sitting on the deck wasn't really an option then. When the day was getting darker the last thing we could see on the sky was this double rainbow, which was the perfect thing to end the day. Oh Australia, I miss you!

Favourite Things At Home - Art by Katja Tukainen

Last Christmas I got the best present ever; an artwork by Katja Tukiainen. I've been a fan of hers for some years and ever since I got to know her art I have wanted one of her works hanging on my wall. It took some time to get the hanging hook to the wall, but at this point the frame has been hanging there for a month or so. The frame, by the way, is also designed by Katja Tukiainen. It seemed obvious to get the matching frames for the picture, too. There's not that much pink at my home, but this one is a happy splash of color here. I love it!

Viime Jouluna sain mitä parhaimman lahjan, Katja Tukiaisen taulun. Vaikka pinkkiä väriä en kamalasti harrasta, on Katjan työ mitä ihanin väriläiskä piristämässä kotia. Se on niiiin pähee!

Footnote: Only the biggest one is Katja's work. Huomhuom: Siis näistä tauluista vain keskimmäinen Katjan töitä.

And So The Renovation Begings

It's about one and half weeks since the renovation guys came to rip the walls off around us. At the moment almost every wall in our shop has been moved. It has "slightly" disturbed our work. Luckily the customers have been understanding and excited about our shop getting even bigger. We have also done a little DIY; new shelves from pallets, sprayed some tables with gold etc. It's fun to see what do they look like in a finished shop.

I hope we'll get a new floor in next week, if not even tomorrow (wishful thinking). After that it's getting easier to furnish the place. The shelves we have are terribly heavy, so it's not really a piece of cake to get them all to their places. One day I had the dogs helping at the shop, since I wasn't able to leave them home. It turned out to be a disaster since I had no walls in my office. What a nerve-raking day! Despite that day the renovation has been surprisingly smooth. Hope it's getting ready soon! Here is a little collage of the work from last weeks. We were able to squeeze a little relaxation to last weekend, too. :)

Yllättävän kivuttomasti on tähän mennessä mennyt. Toivotaan, että liike valmistuu pikasesti. Yllä kollaasia viime viikkojen tekemisistä. Mahtui sinne mukaan vähän relaamistakin. :)
